Review & Impressions: OXY Skin Care Range & OXY 10 Lotion

How to choose products ft OXY Skin Care

Welcome back NKB family, it’s been a while. Today’s blog post is going to be a review of the OXY Skin Care Range. Trying out new Skin Care products triggers my anxiety, I always feel like I am about to poke the bear. If ain’t broke don’t fix it right?

Considering I am beauty blogger trying out new skin care products is a part of the job. What makes it easier for me to choose products that I believe will work for my skin and treat my skin is understanding my skin. I have sensitive, oily, acne prone skin that still has some spots from previous acne breakouts. Oh did I mention I also suffer from hyperpigmentation? It sometimes feels like I drew the short straw in the skin type picking line.

Understanding your skin goes a long way in figuring out what your skin needs. I am sure you’ve heard it a million times over, healing the skin takes more than choosing the right products, it also takes healing your skin from the inside out.  Whilst trying and testing the OXY Skin Care Range I decided to share how I choose products for my skin.

Face Mapping Ft Oxy Skin Care Range

Face mapping has worked wonders for my skin care journey. I choose products that target my skin care concerns and focus my energies on clearing my skin from the inside. I have come to the realisation that choosing the right skin care products then continuing with my bad habits does absolutely no good. Sticking to these routines helps me figure out whether the products I am using are working for me or not.

If you are wondering what face mapping is, worry not I’ve got you! Face mapping is that soft whisper that says, “Babe, 9 out of 10 times there is a solution behind your skin disorders”. Okay let me be serious, Face Mapping, is an ancient Chinese medicine practice that dates back thousands of years, what’s happening on our face is a reflection of what’s happening in our body. So before you jump to the conclusion that your skin care products aren’t working try listening to your skin.

How to Introduce new Products into your routine

Like I said, for someone suffering from different skin care problems, introducing new products to our routine can be scary. What if you try something new and t makes your skin worse. It’s not just you, anyone who is /has suffered from skin problems feels just as anxious as you do about trying something new.

I want to try and help with the anxiety by talking about how you can introduce new products into your routine. Everything I’ve shared so far helps with that. So now that you’ve mapped your face and have a rough idea of what going on inside, where do you go from there?

That’s easy. If you’ve come to understand what your skin type is (dry, oily, combination) and you know what your skin conditions are (dehydration, acne, sensitivity) you can now choose products that are for your skin type and target your skin conditions.

As opposed to introducing a new skincare range at the same time, Introduce the new products slowly. Start with one product from the range, it can be the toner, face wash or moisturiser. Try it for a couple of days and if it’s working you can now add another until you are confident that the skin care range works for your skin. Every time I introduce skin care this how I do it and it hasn’t disappointed me once. if you have a working method share with us in the comment section.

OXY Skin Care Range Review

OXY Skin Care Range

I have been using the OXY Skin Care Range for a little over two weeks now and I am excited to share my impressions thus far. The OXY Skin Care Range has a variety of skin care products that are suitable for problem skin including acne, spots and blackheads. I have 8 products in total. 8 products might seem like a lot but their steps are pretty simple. Trust me on that I’ve used products that had a daily 7 step process and my word it’s tedious.

The range has a soap, face wash, scrub, toner, moisturiser, OXY 10 lotion and a Zit Blitzer. You can choose to use their face wash for sensitive skin or their tea tree soap which is by far one of my favourites. Follow that by toning your face and then applying the moisturiser. The 10 lotion and Zit Blitzer are in my opinion for use only when and if needed.

OXY Skin Care Range Wash Routine

OXY Skin Care Face Wash

Daily Face Wash is available for Regular and Sensitive skins.  It deep cleanses and unblocks pores by removing oil and impurities. With regular use, the skin will remain clean, fresh and healthy.  I prefer the soap with tea tree oil to the face wash. I can honestly say I am biased against face washes. The face wash has been working well so far, it does not break out my skin or strip it of its natural oils. The Daily Face Wash is available in a 150ml tube and retails for ♥R34.95 and a 375ml ♥R59.95 bottle.

OXY Skin Care Tea Tree Soap

I love anything with tea tree oil. Tea Tree oil is the answer to my ace problems. It cleanses the skin, removes bacteria and calms the skin. The OXY Skin Care Range Cleansing Soap Bars are available in Regular and Tea Tree ♥ R13.45.  Using the soap twice a day has helped prevent breakouts, while also controlling excess oil. The anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties of Salicylic Acid and Tea Tree oil help keep skin spot free.

OXY Skin Care Face Scrub

Part of any skin care routine is regular scrubbing to unclog your pores and get rid of dead skin. The OXY Skin Care Range Anti-Spot Face scrub ♥R45.95 contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid that assists in the gentle exfoliating action of the scrub.  Old skin cells are removed and pores are unblocked to reveal a glowing and smoother skin.  It also contains Phycosaccharide, a unique spot-fighting ingredient that is extracted from brown seaweed and has anti-inflammatory properties. It assists in fighting bacteria and reducing excess sebum and redness.

Some scrubs have a tendency to break out my skin. This is something I haven’t experienced with the OXY Anti Spot Scrub. OXY Skin Care Range Moisturizing Routine

OXY Skin Care Range Toner

OXY Cleansing Toner ♥R51.95 deep cleanses and removes impurities, leaving skin fresh and revitalised.  It contains Salicylic Acid which assists in the removal of dead skin cells, while glycerine leaves the skin feeling soft and moisturised. The skin is allowed to breathe, resulting in a more radiant and healthy complexion.

When I used the toner for the first time I was so surprised by the sensation. It stung on my face and that was followed by the best cooling down effect ever. I absolutely love this toner. It has made it onto my 2017 skincare favourites. I honestly do not know how I’ve survived without ever trying it.

OXY Skin Care Range Moisturiser

So far the moisturiser is both mattifying and calming to the skin. The mattifying effect allows it to control the production of excess oil onto the skin.

OXY Skin Care Range Treatment Routine

OXY Skin Care Range Zit Blitzer

The cooling agent in OXY’s Emergency Zit Blitzer ♥R39.95 visibly reduces the size and redness of spots within hours.  The triple action formula includes alcohol which ensures harmful micro-organisms are destroyed, while Tea Tree oil removes skin bacteria and Chamomile soothes the affected area.

OXY Skin Care Range Q10 Lotion

And now the answer to every girl skin issues, an answer from the skin care acne department fairy, The OXY 10 Lotion that is specifically formulated for the treatment of acne, spots and blackheads.

It is a tried and trusted product that has been registered with the Medicine Control Council (MCC) since 1982.  OXY 10 Lotion contains Benzoyl Peroxide, a scheduled product for the treatment of acne, pimples and blackheads.  Benzoyl Peroxide assists in softening and removing dead skin cells, while suppressing the overproduction of sebum secretion of the skin.  Thanks to its anti-bacterial properties, Benzoyl destroys bacteria to ensure clean and healthy skin and is recommended as the first line treatment for acne,

When I initially tried the OXY 10 Lotion I was terrified by the pamphlet, it said had a lot of instructions that made my anxiety even worse.

Here where my initial questions and what I have since discovered

  • What skin care products can’t be used when you are using OXY 10?

Answer: There are no contraindications with regard to other skincare products when using OXY 10.  OXY 10 must only be applied directly to or tapped directly on the affected area.

  • When to use and wash off OXY 10: The pamphlet says to leave this on for 2 hours before washing it off with water and continue for 2-4 days. If there is no discomfort, apply once daily (4hours), wash off and continue for a 4 day period. Then you apply at night and leave it on overnight for a week period –Must this be washed off in the morning? Then apply morning and night – when must this be washed off?

Answer: The OXY 10 lotion can be applied in the morning and again in the evening.  Because of the high dosage of Benzoyl Peroxide, it could affect sensitive skins, hence, in the beginning,  apply – let it absorb and rinse off within 2 hours initially.  But don’t apply directly before going to bed then as you might not be awake to rinse off after the allocated time.

  • Can OXY 10 be used when using the range of OXY products? For instance the face wash, then the toner and then OXY 10?

Absolutely.  The recommended routine is to cleanse, tone, moisturise and then treat.

Have you tried any of the OXY SKINCARE PRODUCTS? Did you like them and what was your favourite product.

I will share an update on my experience with OXY Skin Care Range including a before picture
