What are shade adjusting drops
The body shop shade adjusting drops have been on my wish list for the longest time. I guess it’s better late than never. The body shop shade adjusting drops are without a doubt in my mind, an answer to a lot of beauty prayers. You can finally use that foundation that you bought that was either too orange, dark or too light for your skin.
I don’t know about you guys but these body shop shade adjusting drops are an answer to my prayers, you’d think since I am a beauty blogger and all then I have the whole – choosing the right foundation stuff on lock. I will tell you, it still goes horribly wrong, maybe not horribly but it goes wrong anyway.
My complexion changes a little when it’s hot, lol, I get a tan which means when I buy foundations in summer I am a little darker which becomes a problem if and when I decide to use these foundations during summer. Wow, that was a mouthful, but, I am sure it happens to a lot of us.
BODY SHOP LIGHTENING AND DARKENING DROPS
The Body Shop says heir Shade Adjusting Drops are meant to; “Transform an ‘almost right’ foundation shade into your perfect one in just one drop with The Body Shop’s Shade Adjusting Drops. The ‘Lightening’ drop lightens and neutralises yellowness, while the ‘Darkening’ drop darkens while keeping natural depth.” In other words, the ‘Lightening’ drops will lighten a foundation that is too dark, and the Darkening’ drops will darken any foundation that is too light.
Sounds like it’s too good to be true right, how can one little bottle of white or brown stuff achieve such a thing, grab a cup of coffee, tea or wine and let me tell you all about it.
Okay to start let’s talk about the fact that, The Body Shop Shade Adjusting drops are dermatologically tested and are suitable for all skin types. So, even if you have sensitive skin these drops will work just fine without breaking out your skin. Is that great or is that great, as a sensitive skinned girl myself, I live for products that offer me zero breakout problems.
The ‘Lightening’ drops are made to lighten any dark foundations and how it works is you use the dropper on the shade adjusting drops and add the drops you need and mix them in with your foundation on the back of your hand before applying it on your skin.
Lol, don’t get excited and just pour them in your foundation. I’ve found a little goes a long way with the body shop shade adjusting drops. The lightening shade adjusting drops are a ‘white’ colour. I’ve found the colour of the shade adjusting drops as well the almost pink undertones allow me to tone down some of those foundations that have an orange undertone and always have me looking crazy orange monster. These drops will definitely customise both the foundation shade and undertone to match your skin. If your foundation is too yellow or orange, one to two drops is perfect for lightening your foundation by 1 shade.
How amazing is that?
The ‘Darkening’ drops do as the name suggests. They are formulated to darken those foundations that might be a little to light for your skin. They are also very capable of changing the undertone of your foundation too. These drops genuinely look like melted milk chocolate.
The darkening drops I found work better for shades that have an orange or maybe too yellow undertone, for some foundation especially the cool toned ones it tends to make them look ashy and rather odd. I enjoy using these shade adjusting drops and of course, before coming to you guys, I had to do a couple of swatch tests which I am going to put bellow.
I had a lot of fun putting this blog post together, the shade adjusting drops are amazing, yes but in my opinion, these shade adjusting drops are meant to adjust your shade by one or two shades without making you look crazy. If you go overboard I think you will just end up looking ashy, grey or worse. Ladies. don’t now go into a store and purchase a foundation that is maybe 7 shades too dark/light, just because you have these drops.
I like experimenting and I like getting the most out of the products I buy. especially if they cost me R300 a pop. I am being serious I will get as much as I can from them. I need to feel that the R300 was really worth it. Because of this insane need, I mixed the darkening drops with one of my foundations to see if I could create the perfect contour shade and I managed to. This means on those days that I feel like going the extra mile with my contour look I can always just use my drops to do so.
You can also mix the lightening drop with your concealer. I tried them for one of my makeup look, and mixed it with my L.A Girl Concealer in Fawn for a super highlight and I was impressed. The fact that these drops do not change the texture and coverage of your foundation makes all the difference for me.
