SKIN CARE ROUTINE

UPDATED SKIN CARE ROUTINE

Blessed Monday My loves,

When I started this blog I believed it was going to be about Skin Care, if you know me or have been following the blog for a while then you know ‘skin care’ holds a special place in my heart.

I have shared my skin issues with you in previous blog posts, for those that are new let me take this time to fill you in. I’ve had problematic skin for as long as I can remember. From the day puberty knocked on my door my skin has been finicky since. Having fussy skin is frustrating because you can never be sure of what it is it needs. Anything and everything can set it off. I have extremely oily skin that sometimes masks itself as combination skin. It’s very sensitive and insanely acne prone.

I have moments I think I am doing right by my skin only to realize after a huge breakout that my skin disagrees, lol. If you want to know more about my skin you can check out this blog post

Well I believe I have finally come to an understanding with my skin and I now know exactly what it need. My skin although its oily requires moisture and so do most skin types, even though its oily moisturizing is very important because if I dry it out it breaks out. I have also come to realize natural skin care works wonders for my skin and I have put together a routine that’s keeping the acne bug at bay.

For the record this is an updated skin care routine and I haven’t really changed much so feel free to check out my old skin care routine, I explain why I chose the products I use in that blog post

…. now sit back, relax, grab a notebook and coffee and lets talk about skin care.

My Morning Routine

When it come to building a routine that works for you, make sure you are not over stripping your face of its natural properties and oils. I understand that sometimes you want to make your acne, your scares, the rash go away as quickly as possible but over doing it isn’t going to help, in fact it might make matter worse.

Be gentle with your skin and make sure to keep it healthy. it takes 28 days for you to see change when it come to your skin, so be patient!!!

♥    I start by washing my hands to remove any bacteria that might be on my hands, then I dampen my skin and was it with Raw Honey. Raw Honey has plenty of benefits for the skin. It has managed to help me clear my skin and stops my skin from further breakouts. You can read Honey Cleansing Blog post here

♥    When I’m done showering I use my Rosewater and Witch hazel toner . This toner is seriously so gentle and one of the only ones I have ever used that calms my skin down. It refreshes, shrinks pores and is a great last step that ensures I have removed everything off of my face.

♥  Then I moisturize my face using a blend of Jojoba Oil, Tea Tree, Lemon Oil and Ylan Ylang. Natural oils may scare you have oily skin but trust me, you will not regret using them. They trick your skin into not producing oil and help balance your skin makeup. How awesome is that ???

Now I can apply my makeup knowing I have taken good care of my skin. nowadays though I am confident enough to walk out of the house with zero makeup because my skin looks great and feels great.

My Night Time Routine.

I start of with the OIL/DOUBLE CLEANSING METHOD . Instead of using make wipes I use coconut oil and a wash cloth with warm water. Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial so it combats all of the bacteria that can be on your face from your long day. I use organic coconut oil (you can find it practically anywhere!) I rub a tiny bit all over my face & then with a wash cloth that is damp with warm water I wipe all of it off. This step removes almost 100% of the makeup & my face feels so soft and clean. Coconut oil has also been known to shrink pores, fix fine lines, & it’s a seriously amazing moisturize.

Then I follow this by using my Honey to cleanse my face then I repeat the same process as in the morning. If I have any breakouts I treat them by dipping a cotton bud in Tea Tree oil and Lavender then spot treating the problematic pimples. These two oils are the Raid/Doom for pimples. The results will shock you.

Weekly Routine

The skin on your face goes through so much, you touch it, it gets exposed to the sun and other natural factors and  it gets exposed to bacteria on a daily basis. It s therefore really important that once a week you treat it to a scrub to remove dead skin and to open up your pores.

I scrub and mask my face once a week using either natural ingredients or my newly discovered and current love, the freeman facial scrubs

I follow this by masking my face with a homemade mask if I am in the mood to put them together myself or I use my freeman masks again.

If you would like to know what my pamper day is like check out my 5 Step Facial DIY and some of my amazing skin care recipes.

I am so happy I’ve managed to put this routine together, its simple, it doesn’t take up too much time, its relatively inexpensive and its worked wonders for my skin.

REMEMBER TO DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOUR SKIN, what works for mine might not work for yours

Have you used any of the FREEMAN products before? Would you like me to talk about the oils I use in detail and would you like to see a review of my FREEMAN Lemon, Mint and Clay mask ?
