REVIEW – BLACK OPAL PORE PERFECTING LIQUID FOUNDATION

Happy Thursday,

Have you shared any throwbacks on your social media platforms? Hope you did, celebrate being young and cute. I promised and I am finally delivering. I bought the Black Opal Pore Perfecting Liquid Foundation a while ago and I am finally coming around to review it, as you all know I am a slight foundation hoarder and sometimes I forget which foundations I haven’t reviewed. Hides

As you all know Black Opal is known for their amazing Stick Foundations , they have an array of shades for women of colour. I think their ability to provide such a wide range is really impressive.

First things first, Black Opal promises that their liquid foundation will :

Keep them guessing with picture poreless skin. This lightweight, oil-free liquid foundation seamlessly blends to provide flawless coverage with a high-definition finish. Exclusive poreless technology helps minimize the appearance of enlarged pores, controls excess oil and renews skin natural radiance. Oil, fragrance and paraben-free formula. Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive.

PACKAGING

Black Opal True Colour Pore Perfecting Liquid Foundation USD 30/ 210 ZAR (the price is based on when I bought it which is sometime in December) The Packaging for the true colour range is different from the other range. The Foundation comes in a 30ml bottle.  This time around Black Opal decided to move away from glass and to use an acrylic plastic container which for some of us clumsy clowns is such a relief. It’s always a stress using a foundation worried it could break – can you imagine the chest pains and the mess !!! The packaging is practical and minimal without being boring. They added a pump this time around and for me this is such an improvement. In fact its honestly something I was really excited about.  I hate using foundations that don’s have a pump. They are messy and unhygienic because you always pore more than you need then you have to put back whats left over.

COVERAGE

The Formulation and Quality of the foundation itself is as promised, listen it’s not a far cry from any other drug store foundations but it does as it promises. If you are a make up junkie like me then this is a foundation you should have in your arsenal. I don’t really have large pore but its works wonders on minimizing the pores that do show on my face, especially around my nose and cheeks.

It’s a light to medium coverage foundation that keeps your skin looking like skin but just better. The foundation applies easily to well prepped skin (moisturizer and primer). I use a half a pump of the Truly Topaz colour. When I wear this foundation it does give me a matte finish, however, my face is extremely oily so I do have to powder my face and I do have to blot after about 4-5 hours. I have to say the foundations lasts on the face but I did notice some transfer on my phone when my face was getting a bit oily again. If you have really dark under eyes or spots and scars you will need to use concealer on those parts of your face first before applying the foundation.

I feel I have to mention that, if you haven’t used either primer, powder or a setting/fixing spray, the foundation tends to fade quickly

I’ve used both their Stick Foundation and the other Liquid Foundation and this is really oil free. The other foundations tend to be oily which isn’t really great for people who have oily skin such as myself, however the foundations are still of good quality.

As mentioned the foundation is definitely Oil, fragrance and paraben-free as promised  and as a result I am never worried about my face reacting.

The foundations come in 12 shades and if you are a woman of colour  looking for a foundation that provides seamless application and perfect looking skin, Black Opal New True Color Pore Perfecting Liquid Foundation is the go-to product. An added advantage is the foundation is affordable if you are living in South Africa.

Have you tried the True Color Foundation ? Did you like the foundation?

Great review! I have tried this foundation, the Au Chocolat and I love it!!! it does feel light and looks so natural. My only problem is that I also have really oily skin so after a few hours my skin looks so oily I have to powder it up again (does the setting spray/primer help with this?). Also it transfers easily so most of my stuff always has foundation marks 🙁

I am happy you liked the review Tash,

I think transference is one of the biggest issues I have with black opal products however I think it only really happens to us, the individuals with oily skin. I suggest priming your face with a mattyfying primer then using a setting spray I think that wil help with oiliness but I cant make promises when it comes to transference.

Try Revlon their foundations are great when it comes to that.

Let me know if priming helps 🙂 🙂
