Red Wine 101

All you need to know about Vino

Its December people and its 5 o’clock somewhere in the world right. Read a snap today and this girl was apologizing to her liver in advance. I mean, talk about eating your youth right?

Today’s post isn’t anything too serious, I just want to share the little that I know about red wine and what makes a good wine.  I hope to one day aown a cellar and master the whole  swirl, sniff, sip and know whether its good or not routine.

Okay so first things first, drink responsibly.  Remember your health is worth more than gold or silver!!! and sometimes the hang over isnt worth it.

OOOOkay lets get into the fun detail now. From the time I tasted my first glass of wine to today, I have come a really long way. For starters I’ve learnt a good wine is neither expensive nor old. You can find a great tasting wine at an affordable price.

I am going to share with you my favorite red wines, favorite depending on my mood. I am fan of dry wine. I have to admit, I like the flavor of dry red wines more than  I do the flavors of sweet ones but not the kind’o dry red that numbs your palette but the kind of dry that seems to kick your taste buds awake.

Pinotage

I don’t to share info that already on the back of the bottle, I want to ensure that I share my own opinions on these wines. This PINOTAGE  flavors reminiscent of various spices such as black pepper and cinnamon. Its softer than most red wines its not overly sour and bitter. It is without a doubt of my fav wines.

If you chilling with the girls enjoy it with chocolate and meat. I enjoy red wine coz its the best to have with meat.

Merlot

For someone who wants to learn how to drink dry-ish red wine I would suggest you start with a Merlot. Its balanced and relatively fruity. You can honestly enjoy it on its own just drinking wine is an adventure so just have fun with it.

Shiraz

This medium bodied wine has fresh raspberry and black cherry aromas, complemented by dark chocolate notes. Pepper, spice, lots of concentration, well integrated tannins. I usually  enjoy Shiraz but I have to say this wasn’t my favorite. It was on the sour side.

Cabernet Sauvignon

all I have to say about this wine is try it. I LOVE IT, TRY IT.

One of my favorite blends is BARONE, it used to be our girls night in special but I have to tip my hands off to the Wolf Trap MOURVEDRE VLOGNIER. Its a spicy perfumed wine, if there is such a thing, this is a wholesome wine.

I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did tasting the wines. Don’t judge its  always 5 o’clock somewhere, right?  Enjoy responsibly, remember always always be safe and don’t drink too much.
